Ten Mile Slide Slope Stabilization Project

British Columbia, Canada

Located on Highway 99 with approximately 1,600 vehicles travelling this section of highway everyday and about 20% of the traffic consisting of heavy vehicles. The Ten Mile Slide Slope Stabilization project connects the B.C. coast with the communities of Lillooet, and Xaxli’p to the regional services in the City of Kamloops.

The design required careful consideration of construction stages and stresses induced in the structural components while the slide movement was progressively stopped as construction advanced.

GEA’s scope of responsibilities included 3D analysis of the pile walls using results from the 2D slope finite difference analysis to determine wall stresses, movements, and tieback anchor forces, as well as construction site inspections, shop reviews, and field reviews.
