Cementos Colon Cement Silo

As part of a plant upgrade from 60 to 80 tonnes/hour, a new 2000 tonne steel silo was installed on a fast-track basis. Design was dictated by the high seismicity in the area as well as its location in the Caribbean hurricane belt. Grouting of the very porous coraline limestone was required.

GEA was structural consultant responsible for design basis preparation and detailed design review. Development of foundation improvement design and field review of rock treatment measures.
