New Sturdies Bay Ferry Terminal
2003 – 2004
New Sturdies Bay Ferry Terminal
Galiano Island, British Columbia, Canada
Comprising lift towers, ramp/apron and abutment, the new terminal facilities were designed to maximise the amount of construction that could be completed before removing the existing timber terminal structure and thereby keep the out-of-service period to a minimum. The new terminal operates with active lift provided by two hydraulic cylinders.
GEA’s responsibilities included feasibility study, concept design and detailed design. Preparation of construction documents, cost estimate and specifications.
