Taltson Hydropower Station
2002-2005
Taltson Hydropower Power Station
Northwest Territories, Canada
The facility comprises a vertical axis 18 MW Francis unit. Four inoperable 1 MW Ossberger units housed in an addition were permanently deactivated in 2004. In order to supply electricity to major industrial users in the territory, both an upgrade and an expansion of the existing Taltson River Twin Gorges generating plant are currently being considered. A maintenance upgrade to the headworks is also planned.
GEA’s role: plant condition assessment and Ossberger unit decommissioning plan; concept development and preliminary design for a 4 MW expansion; upgrade concept design for the headworks.
