Diavik Diamond Mine Power Station 2
Northwest Territories, Canada
This 24 MW installation doubles the generating capacity at this remote-site diamond mine in Canada’s arctic.
The 70 x 35 m building comprises a three level steel superstructure on a concrete substructure. Modular construction was a key feature of the design as all materials were brought to site by winter ice road or heavy-lift air freighter.
GEA’s responsibilities included detailed design of powerhouse, fuel storage and appurtenant structures, preparation of detailed construction documents, construction support and field reviews.
